Wrong admin password!
« on: September 07, 2009, 02:46:31 AM »

Deal all,

I have been having these weird issue with my router and the admin password. This wrong password thing had happened a few times already. The password that I normally used to log-on to the router got changed. I had never changed it, and I do not think anyone had got into my router and changed the password either. Whenever this happen I reset my router and I have to redo my configuration all over again, this is driving me crazy. Could this be a bug or something?? Please help me out here.

Sincerely,

If, in certain browser versions, you hit <enter> instead of clicking <enter> with your mouse. you get a 'wrong password ' message. Could that be the case? If not try reflashing the firmware. Worst case is that you have a defective router.

I don't understand why you would have to redo the whole config when you could just reload the backup config file after reset....unless you don't create a backup after you input all your setting.

Hey KevTech, I never save my config because I do not run any applications that required complication operational with the router (etc port forwarding?). Therefore, I backup my router configuration.

I was thinking the same thing that you had mentioned Eddie "you might have a defective router". I do not think the router is defection. There is something wrong with the firmware I think, but I cannot explain properly due too, lack of networking knowledge. When I hit enter with the mouse or keyboard with password had entered, the result are the same "wrong password message". This happened after I ran the router for 2-3 days after I reset the router. For now I ran my router without password-ed because I do not think anyone would want to hack into my router.

Hmmm,  any reason not to change the password temporally?
Just to be sure, if somebody want to login.

Damaged ROM memory could cause this. The memory block containing the static password data could be damaged. try refalshing to see if it solves the issue.
