Suggested settings - Iomega storCentr - Dell Vista - Dell XP

Hi, I am trying to set uip a network on a dir-615. It seems as soon as I solve one problem something else jumps up. It's a home network so I have no problems if I need to change security settings or such. The physical layout. I have a Hughes router/dhcp providing the backbone. this is connected to the router up front ( I don't use the modem connection). I have a copper connection from a Dell running xp and a wireless connection from a Dell laptop running Vista. Also a Iomega Storcnter via copper. I keep playing around with this thing sometimes I'll see a device but won't be able to access the files. Than it'll disappear. I have no problems connecting to the internet. I can't get the Iomega to show up anywhere. Any suggestions where to start would be appreciated. I don't know how many trouble shooters I've been through. Maybe there is a way I could just turn all the security off and start from scratch. I don't even know whee t bein anymore.   Frustrated. Ideally I could sit at either the laptop or pc and have access to all the resources.
