WAN speed Gigabit failing
« on: September 10, 2009, 05:35:15 AM »

Think I saw some other users having the same problem, but so far no fixes have been posted or any update that a future firmware will solve the problem

The problem is that when you either set WAN port speed to Auto or 1000MB your throughput will drop by 20%

I have cable 50/5 in theory, when it's connected directly to my pc I can reach 47.8-48 down and around 4.5-4.7 up, that's fine with me. When the WAN port is enabled on AUTO or 1000MB it drops to 34-36 down and 2.5-2.9 UP.

The only way to reach the full speed is by setting it hard on 100MB.

The modem used was the Arris docsis 3.0 modem and currently it's been replaced by an Ubee modem which should be capable of doing even higher speeds then the Arris whenever the ISP decides to upgrade.

Currently I can live with the 100mb only, but I bought the modem for the 1GB WAN speed since around Q1 2010 the account will be upgrade to 120Mb down and an unknown upload speed.

Tried removing QOS and other settings that could effect the WAN throughput but no effect. Hopefully someone from Dlink could at least reply that the problem is known and their working on a solution

Current firmware is 2.01EU, Revision = B
