lost lease on ip address error
« on: September 16, 2009, 04:46:41 PM »

I noticed that as I experience random reeboot with my DIR655 (A2 with official 1.32NA) in the log i can read this error "lost lease on ip address". I use a 320T modem with the latest official firmware and it's setted as DHCP server. In the Internet setup of DIR655 I have checked Dynamic Ip (DHCP). I hope someone could help me and if you need more info just ask and i will provide!

I am not getting the error but I have noticed that every night at 10pm I lose internet. In the process of looking at the router I noticed that all the leases have been renewed. I was watching again for the last to nights and the same thing. The lease was for a day period I have now adjusted it to a week and will see if it still restarts tomorrow night. Anybody heard of this before? 3 wireless computers, PS3 wireless and 1 wired computer. F/W 1.32NA H/W A4

If your losing the lease you might need to configure your modem. Either a longer lease or setting it to 'eternity'when possible. Try to experiment with the leases. If the clients are losing the Ip and the DIR is set to be the DHCP erver, you can try different lease settings on the http://192.168.x.x/Basic/Network.shtml page.

Also, there's a "always broadcast' setting on that page you might ant to try (doesn't fix a lease issue with a modem which isn't surprising since having 2 DHCP servers on the LAN is potentially disastrous. When the DIR is the DHCP server, set it to off on your modem (unless you know how to configure multiple subnets in your LAN))
