Setting up Playstation 3 on router?
« on: September 20, 2009, 02:01:43 PM »

I logged into the router and chose the games i play on the PC to the "gaming rule" section. I notice it says playstation 2, but not playstation 3.

How do i add playstation 3 to it?

You need to learn to use Google and find out what ports it uses.  It will be easy to find.  Once you find it, input the proper ports into each filed for TCP and UDP.

I know the certain ports, but should there be a set selection like it has for playstation 2?

What do you mean a "set selection" ?  If you know the required ports, then just manually type it out...it's not hard to figure out is it?

I wouldn't know.  I don't use a Playstation 3 or a Playstation 2 for that matter.  I'd imagine that they utilize different ports...

I really don't see how this is hard to figure out for you.  Just put them in manually, or else check to see if it uses the same as the PS2 stuff... again..IT ISN'T HARD TO FIGURE OUT.

It really dosen't matter.

You need to understand the word "Gaming" is nothing but marketing. Having those pre-built console ports is about as much gaming as this router does. PSN(PlayStation3) should work with upnp enabled on both the router and console. Now if you have trouble then input the ports to be open from here  http://playstation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/playstation.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=241 .

I doubt we'll see any more "Gaming" routers.

All we need is a router that will handle its traffic properly all the time.
