Lower Bandwidth from router
« on: September 20, 2009, 09:56:20 PM »

Hi,

I have cable internet through Shaw, and I've been benchmarking my bandwidth through speedtest.net

I noticed that I get 23mbps when the cable modem is directly connected to my computer. When my modem is connected to my DIR-655 1.32NA, I drop down to 18mbps.

Is this expected behaviour? Could QOS be affecting the bandwidth?

Thanks!

Hi,

Personally, I haven't seen any speed dropoffs wired thru my router (FW 1.21)

I would go into the setups and firstly disable anything you think may be interfering with any sort of speed "computations" things like QOS as you mentioned...  Might also see if DNS Relay is enabled...not that it should interfere like you are seeing...but who knows these days...

Let us know how you make out...

ha, try going from 18 all the way down to 2!  Tech support time tomorrow I guess.
