Have to reboot router every 3-4 days.
« on: September 23, 2009, 06:28:34 AM »

Ok, this is really starting to bother me. The router worked fine before my roomates moved in and I was the only one using it. Now, I have to do a reset every few days because pages stop loading correctly. This is really ridiculous for such an expensive router. I have an A1, running firmware 1.21. What should I do?

Well if you read the posts then you should already know what the problem is.  You should contact d-link directly and get them to replace your router with one that doesn't have post 1.2x firmware.  After you get it you should be smart enough to not flash it to any post 1.2x fw and ruin it.  What am I trying to say to you?  1.16b3 was the last working firmware version that could be rolled back to 1.12 which was the version that began not being able to roll back fw after 1.02.  If you come here and actually read the posts then you'd already know that.  If knowing that you decide to flash your router then you deserve the brick that you've created.

So i have the same issue. I contacted D-link they were no help they said i have never heard of the 1.2X issues. I am like that is a load of junk. I know they know it is on here with mods who are techs for D-link. So is there a person that i can contact directly who knows all about this and can fix this issue for me. I am pulling my hair out. I updated to 1.20 with out checking the forums cause well for as long as i could remember i have never had this sorta extreme issue with a firmware update. Normaly the new addition is the part that does not work and the device at least remains functioning. I have had it with this thing. Sorry it sounds like a rant but i mean i paid good money like you all did and i stayed with in the guidlines and still no help from d-link. I think i am going to have to get a net gear wnr3700

I've lifted this directly from another site that is addressing this ongoing problem for d-link users.
Here you go...I'll make it easy for you. Want to see some action or get a refund? This is how you do it (regardless of warranty).

If you are an owner of a D-link product with hardware/firmware problems that are still unresolved despite all your efforts to have them resolve them or if you have recently upgraded your firmware only to have your router become useless or not perform as advertised. Immediately follow the instructions below and wait for more details on a website that is being developed now to assist you with these problems.

In the meantime...you need to do the following immediately.

1). File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org (this will get an immediate response from Dlink and replacement of your router - at least for now)

2). File a complaint with the California Department of Consumer Affairs at »www.dca.ca.gov/online_services/c···nt.shtml

3). File a complaint with YOUR state's consumer affairs.

4.) File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at »https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FT···?Lang=en

5.) File a complaint with Rippoffreport.com at »www.ripoffreport.com/login.asp

You may use the complaint text for each one (that way it saves you loads of time). Also save your paperwork and all emails, conversations, phone records...everything! Do NOT dispose of, sell, trade or otherwise let the hardware go as this may become valuable evidence for authorities.

Your warranty status does NOT matter. Facts are if the firmware update that D-Link provided caused the damage they are liable to fix and/or repair the damage in a reasonable period of time.
