UPnp Server keeps stoping

I have a DNS-323 and a DSM-520.  I just purchased the DSM-520 last week and quickly got it working, watching movies.

Friday night I start watching a movie and I tried to restart the movie, ever since I cannot watch the movie.

I have the DSM-520 setup as a wired device on my network, NOT WIRELESS.

Since then, I did the following in order:

1. Reset the DSM-520 to factory defaults.
2. Updated the firmware to 1.06 on the DNS-323.
3. Rest the DNS-323 to factory defaults.

Nothing seems to solve the problem, everytime I start the DSM-520 I can navigate to a folder with a movie and then, some movies start some don't, but either way, as soon as I access the DNS-323 it ALWAYS DISAPPEARS as a UPnP server.

Why are the two products that were made by DLink to work together, unable to co-exist?

Hi grantpeters,

Possible for you to post information about the devices that interconnect the DSM and DNS components?  At first guess, I'd say some other UPnP device on your LAN could be causing the issue.

Additionally, ensure that both devices are at the latest firmware revision so as to rule out firmware related issues that may have been addressed.

I have an AT&T Uverse gateway as my router and broadband connection.  I also have a couple of Netgear switches and a DLink DES-1106 switch.  My DNS-323 is using firmware 1.06 and the DSM-520 is on firmware 1.05.  I am not running any other UPnP software on any of the workstations.  I also have a DSM-320 which is unuseable because all video skips about every 30 seconds, that is the only other UPnp device.

For clarification; you have verified all your workstations and other network devices to ensure any UPnP Servers are disabled - leaving only the DNS enabled for UPnP Media serving.

If that is the case, I suggest temporarily isolating the DSM & DNS onto a single switch to see if the problem manifests itself again.  The idea would be to try and rule out as many variables as possible.
