I think having the router vertical helps heat dissipation.

Impressive.  Mine rebooted 3 days after beta 09.  Would love to know what you did besides default settings.  I have to have a couple of ports forwarded, etc. so I'm not 100% default -- but nothing fancy.

In addition to NTP and DNS forwarding, I'm also beginning to suspect an interaction between the router and my Intel GigE NIC.  The router seems ok until I turn that particular machine on.  Everything works fine for a while, but soon it starts disconnecting just that PC first.  Eventually it just goes belly up and disconnects everyone and then I'm dead until a physical reset.  Maybe it can't handle the throughput... who knows.

.....I saved all my router settings before I upgraded and then once I installed 1.32NA and rebooted I reloaded all my saved settings ( mainly because I didn't want to reconfigure all the SSID/Passwords on all my wireless devices). (to save settings BEFORE you upgrade and then reload after wards...go to Tools, Systems, Systems Settings) The whole upgrade took me about 10mins......

As far as I know, you are the first person that was able to migrate a config file from an earlier version.  From archived threads on this forum, I didn't think it was even possible.

As for 1.32NA, the jury is out and I probably should have stayed on 1.21 given how stable it was for me.  Since the upgrade (4 days), I've had one mysterious reboot and the loss of WPA2 connectivity (had not go in an re-input the key which solved the problem).  I don't use a lot of the complicated features, so I'm hoping it calms down.

I am curious about your DirecTV situation as I am switching from Comcast in the next few days. I had hoped to run a CAT 5e or 6 to my HDTV frorm my DIR 655. Any suggestion? I have 1.21 and A4 now but intend to use Shareport as soon as I can install the software as we need to print from a laptop with a DWA-160 adapter. BTW, both my laptop and desktop are running XP SP3.

I have a single cat5 running to a 4port netgear hub, splitting one connection to an Xbox, PS3, and Directv.  Has been working great, even before I got my DIR-655.  We stream Netflix on the Xbox and PS3 (Xbox has it built into the UI and you dont need the BluRay disc in the drive).  I get HD video on everything thats advertised as HD.  I'm using Comcast for my internet.

With the hub, Win 7 and my DLINK DIR-655 can see the gaming systems and Directv.  I did try to swap the hub with a faster router (using DHCP), and my network quality slowed down considerably.  And Win 7 could no longer view past the hub.

My Ubuntu box cant see past the hub without some work :)  But I never tried it with the XP machine.

I bought my dir-655 in november and in the beginning it was ok but once I added some access control rules and reserved ips it keeps locking up....only 2 computers (wireless) work out of 5 (1 wireless and 2 wired).
I am thinking I should try downgrading to 1.31 and see how that works.
Any advice?

After 1.32 went out for several days, I searched the forum and found many positive reviews. So I upgraded from 1.31.

Unfortunately, seems 1.32 firmware has issues with heavy traffic. Each time I downloaded sth with Torrents or eMule, the Router locked up, the connection is really slow, or I can't open other web pages. I have to manually reboot the router to make it working fine.

I waited several months for a new firmware but...

Now I went back to 1.31 and I found it works much better than 1.32.

Hello Labuvr:  I couldn't get DirecTV apps to work until I upgraded DIR-655 firmware to 1.32NA. I have a wired connection from HUB to two DirecTV receivers ( wireless is not possible with my receiver) .  DirecTV apps BTW in my opinion are so spectacular.  They are slow to load and other than adding another "cool" factor I really don't use them much.  Perhaps as more useful DirecTV apps are offered this will change.

I used 1.32NA for awhile with no issues until I started to play an online game.  I would freeze for up to 10 seconds then be able to move again.  This would happen frequently on my wireless connection.  When I ran a cable to the computer everything was fine.  I tried upgrading to 1.33 and that made everything worse on my wireless connection.  Web pages would load extremely slow and still had lag in the games I was playing.  I am running windows 7 64 bit with a Hawking wireless adapter HWDN1.

I tried multiple configurations withing the routing and nothing would fix the wireless issues I was having.  I ended up downgrading my firmware to 1.21 and everything seems to be working now.  DLINK really needs to test their firmware more before releasing a subpar upgrade or just come up with a better test plan.

How did you downgrade from 1.32na to 1.21? According to D-Link that is not possible, assuming you didn't just buy another router.

So D-Link lied to us about not being able to downgrade to 1.2x from 1.3x.  >:(
