What I am trying to do is have my dsl modem not work as my router. I want my dlink to control everything. The problem is I have a static Ip and need this info to be passed through to my dlink, so that the dlink is what is seen from the public side and can process all my port forwarding. I have set it up as pppoe and put in my username and pass for dsl and it worked but then stopped shorly after, the dsl is still working fine but not through my router. I had this set up and (I think working right with an older actiontec modem)but the old modem died. With the old modem I left the user name and pass out and put it in the router and it worked great.
is this the correct way to do it, or should I have the user name and pass in both modem and dlink router.
When I set up the pppoe info in my dlink router it automatically sees my static ip from my carrier, along with my carriers default gateway and dns info, however something is still not letting me browse correctly. When I try something like msn.com it will try to goto that page but then ends up searching google for it instead, when google finds it and I try to click on link nothing happins....
In short I need to set up my dlink router to be seen from the public ip address, and I am not fully sure what info needs to be set up.
