This morning I could not get connected to Internet.
I rebooted everything, but still no connection so I called my ISP.
He looked up my account and told me it was fine. He could connect to the cable modem and everything. He told me he could tell that I had a ethernet cable missing (disconnected).
So I bypassed the router (dir-655) and plugged my pc straight to the cable modem. Powered off everything, and brought it back up. Still no internet.
Powered off everything, plugged in the second PC with a different cable, straight to the modem and brought it back up.. Still no connection.
Now the tech support wanted me to get a cable guy out to look at my connection, of course I didn't have time for that, work and everything.
So I plugged everything back as it was before it stopped working, still no connection.
But however I have access to my router (192.168.0.1) I can see the WLAN address, I release and renew. still no connection.
I have the old cable modem in a box there so just to make sure I hooked it up and tested
PC - Router - Cable Modem , No connection
PC - Cable Modem , No connection
So my question is, what's my next step?
Is it the Router my problem?
Is my cable modem my problem?
Is it the connection Router - Cable modem that's the problem?
The internet setting in my windows vista (it was working fine last night)
My Networkcard, I tried 2 different computers
Cables? I tried 4 different cables, same result.
When I get back home my plan of action are to install new Firmware, do a factory reset , and pray.
If that don't work I'm clueless and I guess I have to call the cable guy.
Any suggestions?
