I am unable to download the 1.03 upgrade from this link...

ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Multimedia/dns321/Firmware/dns321_fw_103.zip

Is there an alternate DL site?

I just clicked on the link you supplied and downloaded it without an issue.  I think this isn't a D-Link issue. :)

I'm fairly certain it's not a dlink issue, which is why I asked about an alternate DL site. Theres something on my end that is preventing me from DL'ing from that site.  But I can FTP from other locations.

Or some ideas of why I might not be able to DL from dlink, but can from other locations.

Instead of helping you troubleshoot a browser, antivirus problem, or blocked site, (I suspect one of those) just use a different computer to download the firmware, toss it on a flash drive and bring it home.  I figure with a name like "ultrageek" you will have it figured out in no time.  ;D

Just checking in to see if anyone else has upgraded from Firmware 1.01 to 1.03 w/ drives set to Raid 1 without having to back up to an outside drive first.  This is my backup and I would like to know if I can upgrade firmware without losing everything.  I purchased the DNS-321 a while ago and I upgraded from 1.00 o 1.01 prior to using the NAS.  Now that I have a ton of stuff backed up on it I would like to take advantage of some of the upgrades with the new version but not at the risk of losing everything.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.  I have two seagate 1.5TB in Raid 1 now.

Yep, no problem at all.  I have two 1.5TB drives in a RAID-1 array, and it slid right in.

I recommend resetting to factory defaults after the firmware upgrade and reconfiguring, but it won't bother your data.

Hello, just purchased and upgraded firmware on my new DNS-321 to this old 1.03 firmware and I needed it as the v1.0 did not recognize my WD 1.5TB. Anyway after updating I was able to format them using EXT3 and running at Standard Volume1 & Volume2. No Raid here.

Anyway whats the deal with no firmware updates since
Firmware    1.03    10/09/2009
Why have you left us folks who bought this product since many sites are still selling to out in the cold? Your 323 gets updates and is up to 1.08 i think but nothing for us for over almost a year now?

Just makes me think that for everyone who bought the 321, fi they have any issues are we going to get answers and updates are are we 'as is' and good luck?

Hello D-Link folks. Any updates for the 321 coming out soon?
I would like to see something with regards to the horrible speed it runs at. I"m getting horrible Read/Writes to my drives in them and it's hooked up to your DIR-655 Gigabit Router.
Only getting like 5~9Mbps writing and actually reading which I thought should be 2x as fast at least.

If you're running EXT3 filesystem, I suspect you're seeing all you're going to get.  I get 9-10 with the DNS-321 and about 10-12 with the DNS-323.  I posted over in the DNS-323 forum, the CPU is maxed out when I'm transferring, so I suspect that's all there is.

I'm running EXT3 and getting max speeds of 25 reading, writting is closer to 22 or less, both drives are singles (Vol1, Vol2).  It's no speed demon but it works fine as a media server (BluRay) and periodic backups of my computers.

It's still a mystery how people are getting those speeds. :)

How about a dam firmware update already!!! The speeds are SLOW copying anything to/from this drive. Upload is maybe 14~17Mbps but why in the world is reading, copying from SLOWER.. I'm getting only 3.5 ~ 5Mbps copying from the drive back to my local HD.
I have the latest firmware and rebooted the drive and nothing effects this.
This is on a gigabit router and it's SLOW!

I've been on firmware 1.01 and am very happy.  I upgraded from 1.0 to 1.01 because I want to use my 1.5T drives.

I've not had a single issue with this firmware, but I want to upgrade to get the new features and bug fixes.  Has anyone upgraded and had issues with the 1.01 to 1.03 upgrade?

Will there be another upgrade coming soon?

Anyone recommend me backing up before an upgrade? I'll take a long time via usb 2.0.

Oh, getting 20mb/sec is not common.  Trust me.  I have a 323 and 321 and I'm getting between 8-15Mb/sec average.  You say it's my network? Well, I got a Synology DS209 and am able to get about 60 Mb/sec on the same network.

Long awaited firmware update just announced:

http://gizmodose.com/d-link-sharecenter-pulse-dns-320-2-bay-network-storage-enclosure.html

Unfortunately we'll need to buy a DNS-320 to get it.  :P

Different hardware (faster CPU), similar pricepoint to the DNS-321.  Reports are folks are getting transfers in the 400Mbps range (40MB/s?) with it on a GBE network.  Same price.  4x performance gain.  Something tells me we're never going to see any DNS-321 firmware updates.
