changing https and ftp ports
« on: October 12, 2009, 02:15:15 PM »

hi,

is there anybody who can help??

my thing is i have a server in my netwerk, reachable through ftp and https. reachable on normal ports 21 and 443. i went in the router setup to:
advanced - virtual server.
i know i can change the public adressport to a port i will use.
i know i have to change something in the url i type from my office, but i cannot log in.

lets say it is normally https://server.com, or ftp://server.com

what do i have to enter in this url to get lets say port 12345 for https, and 12346 for ftp??

Sambol, thanks. this is what i did with my former router (asus) and that worked.  i think i figured out what went wrong. i can log in from my house in to my citrix enviroment and then through internet i can remotely log into my NAS by opening the https port in the router. with standard port 443 it works. so when i changed, it didn't. so i think my it at work blocked all ports not used. tomorrow i can use a pc with direct adsl connection, and will try again.  result will be posted.

again thanks for convincing me i was right
