2 computers connect with slow and fast speeds

 ??? 2 computers, vista hooks up @ 8Mbs and xp hooks up @ 1/2 Mbs...
Both hard wired to router.
Both work at 8Mbs when hooked directly to ambit ca modem.
Both appear in status window in router.
Both have correct ip address.
Both have correct mac address.

i have run set up from both computers.
i have disabled fire wall in slow computer.

i have wireless devices working @ 8Mbs.
PLEASE help me,,,,,

Hi,

For the XP machine....  Get Dr.TCP.exe download from dslreports.com  tools section.  Set your RWIN to like 250000 or so.... Save  and Reboot....

There may well be other issues going on....but a low RWIN setting is one that gets overlooked very often....

Also try swapping the cables just to make sure your XP cable isn't flaky...you didn't mention if you used the same cable when testing directly thru the modem...

Also, try different ports on the router...if you haven't already done that...
