Suddenly no wired connections - Hardware C1 - Firmware 3.01
« on: November 04, 2009, 07:13:44 PM »

I only use the wired connections.

I have 4 devices plugged in (2 pc's, 1 netflix dvd player, 1 voip phone)

Everything worked an hour ago - now nothing on any connection.

The lights seem to work as stated in the manual. (power=solid, globe=flashing, broadcast icon=flashing, 4 connections=flashing)

I cannot browse to the router (192.168.0.1), just get a not-found error.

I tried rebooting router & cable modem & unplugging/plugging everything.  Modem works fine when plugged directly into pc.  (I'm using it now)

Did this thing just die?  It's less than a year old.

Is 8 months all I should expect from D-Link 615?

I was finally able to connect to the router by hooking it directly to my pc.  That took many attempts with reboots, modem resets, etc...basically a long time... and, it's an intermittent connection that will lose connectivity.  I reset the 615 (although it didn't reboot or give me any indication) and went through the password reset & setup.  When I restored all of the wired connections, this still didn't help - no connectivity on any devices.

Any ideas?  Should I just use a hammer on it?...and then never buy another D-Link?

I just got a DIR-615 plugged in yesterday, and have experienced pretty much the same thing as you, although only once so far.  I had it connected and working, had customized some settings (very few), had internet.

I left for awhile, during which time my desktop computer went to sleep.  When I returned, I had no internet and couldn't access the router.  I can't remember whether Win XP said I had "limited connectivity" or "network cable unplugged".  Anyway I had nothing.

I rebooted the computer (nothing), then powered cycled the router (still nothing).  Only a hard reset brought it back.

Earlier in the day, I encountered a time when the router "forgot" the new IP address I had given it (and saved the setting).

I too am using HW C1, FW 3.01

I hope there isn't a bad run of these!

I was told by a higher level tech at D link that there was a conflict with my particular modem with the 601...maybe there is a similar issue with the 615 and certain modems?  My 601 would not get an internet line, and my older 514 worked awesome.  Windows 7 showed a red X on the internet side of the modem/router.  Plugged the 615 in an it worked (wired) right away.  had to return 601...
