Worst router I've ever had.
« on: November 04, 2009, 08:45:44 PM »

Random disconnects constantly.  Gaming goes from perfectly fine to not being able to hold a connection for more than 30 seconds.  300Mbps?  Yeah right.  Highest I can get after messing with the settings on this thing for hours is 6.0 Mbps, and even then it drops to 1.0 Mbps at times.  Piece of garbage from a company who couldn't care less.  Upload horrible firmware for a product that looked promising.  Rating this product 0/5 on every website I visit because this is ridiculous.  I'd rather still have my linksys wrt.

My DGL has been working great using the latest FW. No Downtime since.   :D Makes me wonder if there is operator error involved at the end user level.  ??? ??? ??? There are a ton of you (noobs) who probably don’t know what there doing or tweaking there equipment way to much. I really don’t think D-Link is out to make a bad name for themselves. Were not all perfect people. Get over it. I also notice that d-link offering free help to those who have make it here on the forums so why don't you people give them a chance and let them help you fix your issues. They've helped me and my buddy in Oklahoma with his 4500. Were happy now.   ;D

I have to agree.  I've been waiting for all of these problems people on the board have been talking about.  I have an A1 with the *LATEST* beta code and it works fine.  On FIOS.  24+ MB up 24+ MB down.  Dunno what you guys are on about.

But that isnt the point... we didnt spend $200 on the "nicest router available" for it to only half work or work not as well as my old $30 special router for that matter...

it is the principal of spending money on their "nicest" product & getting ignored & treated like we are newbie nobodies... some people got fotunate... personally it is bad design & they should have issued a recall as there is more than jsut firmware issues there are obviously hardware issues as well...

a recall would have been the professional & responsible thing to do, then swap people out with another model or offered a refund... i've been patient for a year of them hoping to get it fixed...and they still have not.. I could understand this treatment for a $15 or $20 or even a $30 router special... but no the TOP OF THE LINE model...

FurryNutz... also, not everyone that has issues is a n00b i bought a router for my home office, i spent good money to buy gigabit, wireless-N & QoS. That is what I needed. I spent the money on the nicest consumer grade one I could find because I didnt want to fuss with routers breaking... if we can't "tweak" the settings why not buy the $30 special router... I bought it SPECIFICALLY for the tweaking settings ie QoS etc...

.. I'm happy you have no issues, but what happens when it decides to fart out on you with the same problems? You will be on here as well, out your $200 like everyone else with no refund & having to spend money if you can even get them to send you a proper replacement... just be honest here...

why do you need QoS for home office anyways, you set up the router as designed and let it to do the work man. I have had this router for almost 2 years now and have been happy with out tweeking hardly anything. You only get Gb up to the ISP modem/line mostly. Ya, My LAN is all Gb and have my one LT running 300Mb Wireless. Speed isn't that much different than 54Mb. Seems like ur flying off the handle at any chance you get with dlink. I bet they would pay more attention to you if you stopped whining about ur troubles. If you really feel this router isn't for you then why don't you go back to your old $30 router and see how long it last and how happy you are. Obviously you weren't happy with it. Makes me wonder if you'd be happy with anything.

Why don't you get a grip and ask people on here to help you out some. Maybe if you had a better attitude, you'd get some help from dlink and others on here.

Enjoy.

Granted, the some of the FW has been not good, Dlink is working on getting it fixed. Been pretty happy with 1.21 B3. The wireless needs a few more tweeks and Im sure it will be great. Played ODST last nite on FF with 3 other guys from other places and not a drop or lag any for 3 hours with out stopping. Hope for a final release of FW and all should be good. Would like to see one last Beta to test for wireless improvements then, if all good, Release it. My 2 cents.

All I have to say is sometimes if you look between the keyboard and chair you might find the problem there.. most cases this is where you might find the answer as well.   ;D
