Brother MFC 7420
Canon i9900
2 XP Pro pc's, 1 is 32 bit, 1 is 64 bit.
Canon installed fine on both pc's using setup form the Dlink
Brother constantly fails to install when pointing setup to downloaded Brother drivers. Error is;
"Cannot find a pre-installed driver for Brother MFC 7420. Please insert the driver cd that shipped with the printer..."
Brother install succeeded on the 32bit box when I point setup to the original Brother driver CD.
Problem is, I have other pc's that I need to install this printer on; XP x64, Win7 x64.
Is there a workaround for pointing setup to downloaded drivers instead of the driver CD? (Uh, yes, I did extract the drivers first.)
* Drivers were preinstalled on the x64 pc
* Printer was directly connected to the x64 pc previously
* putzed around editing the port to match the usb port the printeris connected to...no luck.
