DIR-655 and Network Magic Pro affecting wireless
« on: November 08, 2009, 10:34:45 AM »

I've been following the different threads about the DIR-655 and its wonky wireless connection. I was having this problem as of recent but wasn't sure why. I knew that the DIR-655 would cycle through wireless channels to find a clean one if things became congested on the present one. I'm okay with that but when it started happening too often I started looking at what changed in my network. I have always run Network Magic Pro on my network, ever since I had a DIR-625, and had my share of issues with it , but didn't think this was the problem. After changing USB NICs, reflashing the DIR-655 and assorted other attempts. I finally added a new system that DOES NOT have Network Magic running on it and my DIR-655 has not channel surfed or rebooted in more than 2 days. I'm happy with that and my wife will be happy too because telecommutes for home for work.  My main question is Do I install NW or just leave it as is and/or move on to something similar, better, noninvasive? Finally have others had this kind of problem with NW?

Network magic Pro has been removed from the added software for quite some time now. The standard Windows interface does a very good job nowadays and the utility is really not necessary.

I agree. Take a little time to learn how windows shares work, and you'll be happier in the end.

Network Magic is kind of buggy for me, it tends to not see online machines.

Me too I used NW magic pro for quite some time, but found it polling the internet incessantly, who knows where it was going or why. Removed it from all the machines at home and found the speed picked up.
