I wanted to start a thread for all the DIR-655 users that are running the aforementioned "beta" code.

Please try to keep the feed back constructive and if possible, positive.
We will do our best to answer any questions you have in a timely and orderly manner.

Happy Surfing

Just uploaded new beta firmaware, Thanks for not overwriting settings.  I always save the configuration before updating but it was nice not having to reload it this time.

Are there any notes on the changes we can expect from the Beta firmware?

Karl

Thats odd, so if I understand you correctly, after you loaded the beta code your 655 still had all of its custom settings?

111_MSBETA firmware did save custom settings.  However I was only upgrading from the supported 111 to this beta of 111.

That's what I mean, that is not really a detailed technical changelog, just a very generic, vague description of what has changed.

How is it with the need to reboot when opening ports in the firewall (virtual server + portforward)?
In the firmware 1.04 I think, it was possible to open ports and to save the settings without a need of an router-reboot. In all later firmware versions, this feature has been removed. Now you always have to reboot the router when changing virtual-server & portforwarding settings.  :(

By the way, uploading old settings does still not work. Get always the following message:
Quote
Restore Failed

The device may be too busy to properly receive it right now. Please try the restore again. It is also possible that you are logged in as a 'user' instead of an 'admin' - only administrators can restore the configuration file. Please check the system log for any errors.

Please press the button below to continue configuring the router.

Slight performance improvement. More logical WISH processing. I can reliably stream 720P now. 1080i is still not quite right, but much better. My two Linux laptops can now see the wireless network. They still can't connect properly, but that's likely more to do with their trouble with WPA2 security. They work well with WEP.

Bye.        8)

I just finished loading the beta code, and my 655 did NOT retain its settings. I had saved them before doing the update and had to reload the settings to get them back.
