Help with Set-up DAP1522
« on: November 21, 2009, 09:31:21 PM »

I already discovered as an access point this device must have a fixed cable connection to my DIR-655.

what i thought this could do as bridge is in a "sense" extend the range of my network or does this actually mean giving more lan lines or wireless signal to my network.

What i am trying to do is that my best friend lives next to me and we are sharing the cable bill. Now all i would have to do is set this as bridge and give it to him correct? To where all he would need is my router security information?

Please help...DLINK techs support overseas is not working out. I got hung up on three times so i am at a wits end.

Thank you all for your help

In bridge mode the DAP is a client, so if you set up the DAP and hand it to your neighbour, it would connect to your wireless and he would be able to connect his clients through the 4 LAN ports.

If you also want to extend your wireless network you need an additional access point connected to the DAP.

[network1/dir-655]<-------wireless------>[network2/dap-1522]

Is this configuration possible of having the DAP-1522 creating a new network but using the DIR-655’s wired internet as a backbone?

With communication between the two wirelessly.

Or

Does the communication between the two have to be wired to do such a set-up?

If not then this is the set-up your suggesting
