I can see no reason why Windows 7 should suddenly stop working, none of mine have suddenly had any issue talking to the D-Link NAS boxes.

Configure Windows 7 to connect to Samba servers

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy
Local Policies - Security Options

Network security: LAN Manager authentication level
Send LM & NTLM responses

Minimum session security for NTLM SSP
Disable Require 128-bit encryption

There's no special trick to get Windows 7 working with the DNS-321, all three of my Windows 7 machines talk to it just fine.

I am having a similar issue and would appreciate some advice.  For a while, Windows 7 worked just fine with the DNS-321.  Lately, however, even when mapping using easy search, transfers fail after about 8gb.   I am transferring large files (30 gb) of Bluray material that I have want to transfer from my discs to the DNS321 for archival purposes. 

I seems like the DNS321 is somehow not responding to network requests.  Any ideas on how to keep it "alive"?

I've transferred 20+ gigabyte Acronis True Image backup files with no issues to the DNS-321, I don't know of any reason it should fail in the middle of a large transfer.  Could this be something else in the network causing the failure?

Yes, I appears that another device was grabbing the same ip address.  I moved the static IP to a new number and it looks like things are working again.  Thanks.

You should always assign any static IP addresses outside the range of your DHCP server, which will prevent this issue.
