Intel 5100AGN, 5GHz, 300mbps
« on: December 07, 2009, 08:53:58 AM »

Hi guys, I'm trying to set my Sony AW11Z's 5100AGN to use 300Mbps on my 5GHz N network. Atm I have B and G on my 2.4GHz and N on my 5GHz, both using WPA2 AES.

In the 5100AGN's settings, N is enabled and Wide Band for 5GHz is set to auto, instead of 20MHz only. Now when the router's 5GHz channel width is set to Auto 20/40MHz, it connects at 150Mbps only, but when I force router to only 40MHz I get the full 300Mbps. The question is, when both are set to auto why should it default only to 150Mbps, as when I force the width to 40MHz I can get the full 300Mbps?

Also, do all/most N receivers support channel bonding? So there shouldn't be an issue with compatibility if I can't get 300Mbps to work on auto, and keep the router forced at 40MHz?
