I'm using Windows XP SP 3. My Internet provider's cable modem is set to 192.168.0.1 - It assigns me leased IP for internet access via its DHCP. I set my DIR 655 IP to 192.168.10.1 so I can reach its browser interface (factory default is same as the cable modem is using). I then connected the ethernet cable from the cable modem to my DIR 655 WAN port. I hard wired one computer via ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports in my router. I enabled the router's DHCP and it assigns an IP to the computer. It is able to connect to the Internet. Another computer is on a wireless adapter. It finds and sees my available wireless network. I provide it the encryption key, and it seems to connect, but it is not assigned an IP. It's address shows up as 0.0.0.0 - and I cannot get internet access on the computer connected via wireless. Can I get some help on this configuration? I can't figure out why the router is not assigning an IP address to the wireless connected computer.

Hi,

You don't mention what wireless encryption mode you are using.  Try using WPA PERSONAL rather than WEP.  The WPA mode should then be set to AUTO and the Cipher type to TKIP, with a GKUI of 3600 seconds.  Enter your key of at least 8 characters, and you should be good to go.

When you give instructions on settings, it would be nice if you mentioned how to get to the setting you suggest. I am not familiar with the interface and finding items is not at all easy or intuitively obvious.

From the main menu click on setup, wireless setting, scroll down to Manual Wireless Network Setup
