Firewall blocking causes Dreambox to freeze
« on: December 08, 2009, 02:06:58 PM »

Hi,

I recently bought a D-Link 655 to manage my network with. But i have a big problem concerning my dreambox. For people that don't know what it is: a satelite receiver mainly used for cardsharing.

When i look at the log file, it seems that the built-in firewall is constantly blocking both incoming and outgoing signals to a certain ip adres. The ip adres in question is where my dreambox is connecting with and needs to operate correctly. Because the firewall is blocking the incoming and outgoing packages, the dreambox freezes every few minutes. I have to reset the damn thing completely by hand, powering off the dreambox, restart etc etc.

I have already assigned the dreambox a fixed internal ip adress, but that didn't help. I have put the dreambox in the Demilitarized Zone but that doesnt help also. It's really annoying, if i can't solve this problem, i'm going to buy an other router and sell the 655.

Is it possible to completely disable the firewall of the router?
Any other tips?

I have a dreambox as well and until now it always worked with all software versions of the 655.
It is not in the DMZ and gets and IP via DHCP.
Believe me I have dozens of problems with the router but the dreambox works.
Would advice to use DHCP so also the correct gateway settings are passed along to the dreambox.
Can you print a part of your log when it does not work?
