FLAC & UPnP support
« on: December 18, 2009, 02:56:52 PM »

Hi,

I've installed firmware v1.03 and can now stream FLAC files to my network receiver. However I can only browse the folder structure. The artist, album, genre, etc do not show the FLAC files. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Thanks

Just a stupid question but were you able to stream these files from say a computer to your receiver, or any other method?  I'm just curious if it's a reciever problem not having the codec or NAS problem not identifying these as media files.

I can find them and play them when navigating by folders. However none of categories are being populated. The same problems also occurs on my PS3 which leads me to believe that the problem is with the 321.

Well the good part is you can access your music.  I can't wait to buy a nice receiver that can stream video, whenever that hits the market.

Have a happy holiday.

The DNS321 has all sorts of problems with UPNP.  I am sure that does not make you happy.  The good news is that you can install the funplug plugin and enable mediatomb media server on the unit.  It appears a bit happier, until you library get's too big (like mine).

FLAC has it's own native tagging system not supported by the UPnP AV media server. The tag information is not being served with the file to the media player to be able to categorize the files by artist, Album, or genre.
