trouble with internet connection.

trouble with internet connection. I tried installing both ways through the cd as well as manually.
My problem is it tells me no internet connection detected. All the wires are put in the proper spot. I have a DSL modem so using (PPPoE) connection i entered the user name and password. The internet light just flashes orange.

I also just bought a new dir-615 to replace my old linksys router... i followed the set up instructions and i can connect to the router but not the internet, it cant find my modem(Motorola cable modem)/internet connection.
I checked all the connections/cables and their fine so i called my ISP and they said the modem is working fine. I reconnected my linksys and it worked fine.
I tried the release and renew functions while the dlink router was connected but that didn't seem to work.

what kind of modems? because if you have a modem that acts as a router/dhcp server also, then you can just set the wireless router to be dynamic. It will pull its settings from the DHCP server within your modem.
