Title: Can't access DNS-320L from outside my home network.
Post by: Eneko on December 01, 2014, 02:12:51 PM
Hi there,

I hope I am not reposting. I haven't found anything about this issue in the forum, eventhough there are a few comments about this issue in the google Play Store.

I have a DNS-320L and when I try to access it through the Mydlink Access Android App or from www.mydlink.com from my home network, in other words, the same network the DNS-320L is on, everything works fine. I see my device registered and I can browse through my files.

However, if I try to access from a internet connection, the app says:
"WARNING: Unable to obtain the firmware information for the selected device. Please check the network connection of your device and try again."
The www.mydlink.com site doesn't allow me to access either when using a internet connection.

So I'm pretty sure it has something to do with my router which must be blocking the incoming calls to the DNS NAS but I can't figure out what. I'm not an expert in routers but I manage and I think I have opened everything and still no access.

Any ideas? Should I open a specific port?

Thank you very much for any help!

What ISP service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Mfr and model modem do you have?

What Mfr and model host router do you have?

What region are you located?

Ditto here since the most recent update. I get a message that the firmware is not recognised on my Samsung note 3,  S5 and S6. It has only happened within the last week.  I note that people are complaining about the recent update stopping access to their DNS320L.   I only spotted last week my phone could not access anything when I was in London.  I can however still access   my files by typing in my  ip address but I am not sure if that is when I am near my router or the cloud in London.

 :D :D :D :D

OK I could not get the DNS320L to show up on the DLINK Storage Utility on my PC.

That has led me to believe that the installation of the newest firmware did not work.

I have reinstalled the most recent firmware and I can now confirm that the  DLINK Storage Utility spots the external drive.

I have tried on my android phone with abated breath and it eventually let me in.  I will not try on my Note 3 to see if this working.

I would say that the first attempt did not work.

i have the same problem and hour ago i was normally accessing my DLINK 320L from android mobile phone then I wanted to setup more things on it so I went on my PC and opened https://eu.mydlink.com and it forced me to upgrade firmware to continue further. After this update i tried accessing router from mobile phone again and i get error "Unable to obtain the firmware information for the selected device. Please check the network connection of your device and try again".

I am sure the cause of this is latest update cause i didn't do anything to the router in the last hour when it worked.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

What version firmware do you have?

Can you access mydlink via web browser on pc?

Is the mylink services plugin installed?  https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mydlink-services-plugin/ldibdoepbjbkkcbgndfljnphngpglhbb (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mydlink-services-plugin/ldibdoepbjbkkcbgndfljnphngpglhbb)

A few months ago DLink updated the firmware and it caused issues with access via mydlink (see my older posts) but then they fixed the firmware but about 2 or 3 weeks ago they changed the Universal Media Player plugin to the new mydlink services plugin

I have mydink Access version 1.3.0 and mydlink Lite version 3.4.7 on Android phone and can access my 320L firmware 1.05 (DLINK_DNS320L(LW).1.05b06(3.07.0716.2015) installed - also using Chrome browser (with aforementioned plugin) version 45.0.2454.86 m

HTH

ps instead of phoning support (unless you like to pay for calls) you could use the "Support" link on mydlink or even their facebook account which sometimes gets a quick response ;)

The PC website version works fine it never made problem, but mobile application from android shows that error above. I tried clearing the cash on it but no success. Tried also reinstalling the application also nothing. Version of firmware now is 1.06 .

With 1.03 was working fine.

just to note that dyndns access works fine from anywhere outside home network over https secured connection.

Sounds like the new firmware is not compatible with the apps on android

If you haven't phoned support yet - post issue on facebook (if you have account)  https://www.facebook.com/mydlink?fref=ts (https://www.facebook.com/mydlink?fref=ts) and/or mydlink support page  https://mydlink.com/contact (https://mydlink.com/contact)

Possible to downgrade the FW back to v1.03.

Let us know if you get any information from D-Link.

Not sure if it's you or me missing something here

KnightPaladin stated in their comment http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=61172.msg258888#msg258888 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=61172.msg258888#msg258888) that accessing mydlink advised them to update.  If like previous instances of failed firmware upgrades it's unlikely that v1.03 will allow access to mydlink and therefore will the apps?

Therefore if they downgrade to v1.03 it might not allow and if they upgrade it might not allow.

In the previous failed firmware patch for the 320L Dlink picked up the issue and released (but not globally) a patched updated firmware that bypassed the upgrade message (see me previous comments)

KnightPaladin needs to test v1.03 again and if they still have issues then I recommend posting questions on facebook page and contacting support via the method explained here >>>http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=61172.msg258904#msg258904 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=61172.msg258904#msg258904)

Maybe possible to downgrade as a test to see. He should ask D-Link before to be sure.

Use the mydlink apps or the mydlink web access - you need to register (free) and link your 320L to the account

That is the easiest way - allowing others access is a bit more problematic
If just access to your files - the easiest option is to give them the account details (email/password) but that could in turn cause security issues - you could set user account (with folder restrictions) on the web gui but I don't think it's easy to access.

What I have tested so far that works is install QuiXplorer addon then on the other PC/laptop - sign into mydlink web access and click "My Files" - if I remember correctly it should give a web IP address then/web/*******  change the web address to (hopefully) "ip address/QuiXplorer/index2.php?action=login&order=name&srt=yes"  and it should automatically go to login page of QuiXplorer

If it's just media files you want to share, I've seen it working but I have not been able to get it working myself  Kodi and Emby.  Emby allows sharing online of media database/files

HTH

If I haven't completely answered your question or you need further advice - don't be afraid to ask.

Same message for DNS327L after upgrade to newest FW.
D-LINK mobile apps are so poor but their 'promo' is so strong everywhere.
Im disappointed with quality.

Hello, small update from my side.

I registered NAS officially on dlink support side & opened ticket with this failure.
They responded quickly that this issue is already known & team is working on NEW firmware which is currently under tests
and will be available around 30.OCT.2015.

I hope It will solve our issues.  :D
Im running NAS version 1.05, which is for me better than 1.04 but without mobile access  >:(

bye

Been following this thread for some time now. Here we are in December with no updated firmware. I've raised another ticket with Dlink, will let you guys now if there's any progress with resolving the problem.

Hi scs3drg
What firmware version do you have on 320L?
What mobile OS are you using?
And if mobile OS is Android - what version Android and what mydlink apps do you have installed?

In all honesty I believe the DLink NAS devices are poor when it comes to external access - if I review/answer questions regarding DLink NAS devices I make this point clear and only advise purchase if you only seek LAN capabilities.
That said when 320L is installed and mydlink account setup and linked to the 320L - using mydlink Access with mydlink lite I can "access" (and I use the term lightly) my media.
