Upgraded to 1.33NA but router still says 1.32NA
« on: April 14, 2010, 01:39:51 AM »

I just upgraded the firmware on my DIR-655 to 1.33NA, but the admin pages still say 1.32NA. Has anyone else seen this? I tried it twice, so I know I didn't just pick the wrong file, and it unpacked with the correct release notes.

The log says "firmware upgrade image successfully uploaded - installing" followed by all the expected messages.

Tools/Firmware shows:

Firmware Information

Current Firmware Version : 1.32NA

Current Firmware Date : 2009/11/05

Also, it has this Advanced DNS description, which may be new:

Advanced DNS is a free security option that provides Anti-Phishing to protect your
Internet connection from fraud and navigation improvements such as auto-correction
of common URL typos.

Thanks!

Sounds like a "partial" success.

I would try this.

Download a fresh copy of the 1.33NA firmware.  Do not use the one that you have already used as it may be corrupt.

Redo the "flashing" of the firmware from the new copy.

Reset the router to factory defaults, not just reboot.

Enter your preferred settings.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Might also need to hard reset the unit before flashing.... in fact I had to hold the reset button in for some 30 seconds +/- and THEN re-flash for the 1.33 to take.... YMMV

I agree.  A factory reset may be in order... I was unable to flash to 1.34 successfully until I held the reset button down, and confirmed that the defaults were restored (personalized admin password was reset)...

Well, I, for one, do not believe that... Must be more than that, or it would be a real waste of everyone's time.

1.32NA had a lot of periodic reset issues if DNS Relay was enabled (for some users).

1.33NA was the fix for this.

I had the same problem. You need to hard reset or reset to the factory settings before you flash the new firmware. Then it will work.
