Its antennas on both the NICs and the router are Vomit inducing (but nevertheless changable)
Id like to shoot the person who designed the website for managment, and the guy who decided to not have a console or terminal services of any kind
I also wouldn't recommend relying on getting any help whatsoever from tech support unless your question is "HOE DOES I SETS UP MUH INNUHWEBZ?" unless you want to find someone new to put on your list also, of the 4 times ive attempted to get help finding a specific thing in the dang website management thing the response has been either "you cant do that" (all of those ones ive been able to do with enough searching around on the site or my favorite you havent provided us with enough information we need to know insert list of entirely unrelated things here.
the device aside from those 3 problems is flawless and will be able to handle a massive connection without trouble (100Mb/s wan speed+)
To sum it all up I REALLY REALLY HATE THIS ROUTER, but
if i had any other router id really really hate it enough to smash it to pieces in less than a day.
im used to cisco business routers, and they have command line or command line and work like they are configured and also work like they are configured. no surprises unless you did something ******ed there.
the diagnostic options has a list much longer than than the 4 letter word ping that the DIR655 has.
Wanna do a line test?
WEVE GOT AN APP FOR THAT ping tells u how long it takes to get there and back (disregard that that has no bearing at all on the quality of the line the configured speed configuration problems or wiring problems as long as its capable of sending 10mb/s on half duplex this router will say PERFECT GUYS THIS WORKS DIR655 satisfied with underachievement!
wanna do a trace route?
WEVE GOT AN APP FOR THAT ping tells u ur destination ip that you typed thats it right there look i traced it from your box to my text output TRACED YAY I DID IT!
wanna check if your internet is workin?
WEVE GOT AN APP FOR THAT ping tells u how long it takes to get there and back!
wanna check if theres a single thing going on right other than the ability to send some data without total failure?
WEVE GOT AN APP FOR THAT ping tells u how long it takes to get there and back! and if you connect 40 computers all together then send **** around on ms networks in massive quantities from a bunch of computers all over the place to see if you can load it up enough ping MIGHT change depending on how important D Link considers ping to be in qos
wanna change a setting?
sure as long as you wanna reboot and wait 3 minutes for the internet to come back up to find out if you fixed anything at all.
on the upside this is the third UPnP port mapping device ive owned
and the only one that has worked so far.
