iPad issues with SecureSpot 2.0
« on: May 21, 2010, 08:51:46 AM »

I have a DIR-655 setup using SecureSpot 2.0 and have had no issues using it. However, I just got an iPad and now I am experiencing issues with the SecureSpot 2.0. After I get the iPad authenticated and connected to my wifi network, I try to access the internet or use any applications that require wifi and I get nowhere. With the internet, I get the following message: 'Safari cannot open the page because too many redirects occurred.' I watch the address bar and see that the address keeps switching between the website I am trying to access and 'dir-655.besecure.com.' If I turn off the SecureSpot feature in my DIR-655, the iPad is able to connect to the internet just fine. We have iPhones and iPods that don't have this issue. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I am going to upgrade to the latest firmware this weekend (I am still running 1.33NA) to see if that helps.

I'm having exactly the same problem with my new iPad.  Has anyone opened a ticket on this?

After upgrading the firmware and several attempts of adding and removing and re-adding the iPad, I was able to get this to work.

Did you ever find out what the real problems were with the I-Pad ??
Was it Secure Spot ???
I have a I-pad on order and will need to get my Dir-655 ready for it...
1). did you have to disable secure spot ?
2). Does your " N " run at 300mbps ??
3). are you running straight " N "  or G+N or  B+G+n  and does it matter ???
4). if running " N " is the range really better ??
5). any issues with WPA2  ???

Thanks for any info !!!!!

OK, first off, there are no issues with SecureSpot... leave it enabled. All you need to do is goto Advanced => Network Filter and enter your iPad's MAC address (GENERAL=>ABOUT=> WiFi Address).. as being 'allowed' to access the network... then save this setting. After that, just enter your SSID, type of encryption and password into the iPad.
THAT's IT !!!!

I've been ripping my hair out for the past week trying to find out why I couldn't connect. I had heard that Apple doesn't work well with Dlink and that I should get an Apple AirPort Extreme Router. I was =>| |<= (this close) to buying one when I thought I'd give it one more shot at troubleshooting. Also, I've already spent ~$1000 already for this thing and really wasn't jazzed about spending another couple hundred !!Of all the sites, blogs and forums ... not one mentioned ANYTHING about MAC addressing !! And for this reason, I felt I had to register here and post the sol'n.

Speed: 528.14 KB/s (4.13 Mbps) ... as reported by Speedtest X app. I'm still setup using mixed mode b,g & n

As for network printing, there are several apps available for this (docs, webpages etc.)... but without them, there doesn't seem to be any obvious print fn .

I've never ran N alone. So, I really couldn't say whether it's faster or not... Or if range is increased. I've never had range issues anyway. I can be anywhere in the house, and even in the backyard.. All with no issues.
