dir-655 fw 2.00NA
« on: August 05, 2010, 08:08:28 AM »

So I just received my new dir-655 from amazon yesterday and I looked on the side of the box.
It states :
hw version: B1
fw version: 2.00NA
I havent opened the box yet to see what is actually on the device itself because I want to know why it appears to have fw for the dir-825.  I wanted to open the box and update the fw to the latest, but now I am confused by the boxing.

Any suggestions???

I am hesitant to open the box in case i need to RMA - I am afraid that is the only way I will find out.  The box states clearly it is a dir-655....

thats what i posted on the other thread... see i wonder if the new B1 version with fw 2.00 is the FIX of everything. Ok so i believe since its the B1 version, the internals are new. maybe?... If anything, i would like to see the internals just for the heck of it... I personally would open it because its a new dir-655... going from A4 to a B1, theres probably something new.. ALSO the firmware, probably thats a whole new firmware thats actually stable. :)

i wonder if the internals are different... faster cpu speed? (doubt it but who knows...)
ooooooh! imagine they use the dir-825 internals like the cpu speed, and everything but instead of dual band, its just a single band.... all the unknown information!!! :)

Thanks for the info -
So here is my question  - I am in the US - why would I get this hw version???
How do I go about upgrading the firmware  - use the dir-825 latest 2.03NA???

No idea... Perhaps some moderator will notice this thread.

Could be that they've stopped or lowered production (EOL?) and are shifting stock to clean up their inventory...

Buying from Amazon is akin to buying from Fleabay.  You might buy a Logitech G15 keyboard and end up with an Italian version G15.  You want an US version?  Buy from the Egg, Mwave or other US based stores.
Amazon and Ebay are World wide.

I just got this DIR-655 also off Amazon.com and it had HW ver B1 and FW 2.00NA   I can not find anything on the release notes for this. I emailed them. We shall see what they say.  ;D

I believe that is the new hardware version which comes with the firmware that supports IPv6.

All 655 may get this 2.0 firmware soon.

I don't think it is Asian market hardware.

I believe the B1 is the next in line after the A4.

I don't think it is Asian market hardware.

I believe the B1 is the next in line after the A4.

I looked into this, that seems to be the way the D-Link revision system works. A1-A4 then starts B1.

It also looks like they quit supporting their older models with firmware once they release a B1 or a C1 rev.

I looked over their FTP site to confirm this......... ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/

Then when they go to B1, the software goes to 2.xx, C1 goes to 3.xx, etc.

So much for IPV6 for the A series router! :'(

I just bought one last Friday from my local Office Depot store. The router was manufactured this year and is HW B1 FW 2.00.
