How easy is it to use Harry?

I haven't personally used Filezilla, but from scanning through the documentation, setting up your box as an FTP server using that app shouldn't be that difficult. Should be fairly straight forward. Setup problems are typically network related due to router or firewall issues. . . but you're already a pro at that.

Well I'll probably give it a go. I was reading the documentation and does seem fairly easy. Maybe this noob can enlist the help from the Master of GOW2, Mr. Hard Harry.

It's easier than you think.  On the client side you can use an FTP client application or simply use windows explorer to transfer files (unless Filezilla has some unique dependencies).

Yea, its easy. You install the server on your PC, they install the client on theirs. Then make sure you add a exception to your firewall and a Portforwarding of port 21 on your router. It only gets tricky if your ISP blocks port 21. After that, its just drag and drop pretty much. Easier for you to try, and answer questions then, for me to give a complete walkthrough. Let me know how it goes.

You can use explorer, MSIE, firefox (with the right plugin), or heck you can even do it from Telnet if you want to go old school. The client just make its more user friendly.

Yeah, never heard of an FTP implementation tied to a client-side app. FTP protocol doesn't require one.
Used to have an XP box with IIS for FTP. . . my DNS-343s make life so much easier. Barely any maintenance.

Ok, I got the FZ Server set up and I think I have router set up for portforwarding to a selected port that I have FZ listinng too. I see need a tester to see if they can connect...where do I go from here?

Now go to here.. That will show your public IP. Then they use explorer, MSIE, etc and enter in: x.x.x.x:port. So say your IP is 68.1.2.3 and it was set to listen on port 21(default). They would go to 69.1.2.3:21 and what ever you have in your FTP sever, they should see. Ofcourse, it would ask for the password you set up when you created the server, but other then that, its pretty simple. You would just need to update them when ever your IP changes. Or use DDNS to create a domain for them to use instead.

On a different subject. Anyone know if its possible to play Multiplayer in Fallout 3? Or do you need New Vegas for that?

Guess what?  I exchanged my perfectly good Netgear WNDR4500 for a Buffalo WZR-HP-AG300H yesterday at Fry's.  I told the cool guy doing the returns "This is going to sound absolutely crazy, but this router has been phenomenal and I've had zero issues with it, but I'm returning it for a Buffalo."  He laughed and said "you're not the first one to tell me that (meaning I wasn't the only one who bought above what they needed it for).  One of the reasons I exchanged it was because it has an internal fan that doesn't seem to be easily accessible.  I'm kind of worried that it will eventually fail and maybe short out the router or cause a fire.  I prefer passive cooling.

About Fallout 3, yeah, unfortunately no Coop or multiplayer.  Same with New Vegas.  :-(  They said they didn't introduce it because they wanted the player to feel "alone against the world."

I just can't buy Netgear. First, not a fan of internal antenna. Second, I did a beta test of a netgear and it was the worst router I have ever used. Could have been it was on beta firmware, but it left a bad taste in my mouth for netgear.

I've always been a fan of Netgear products, but no matter how much I tried to like their routers, I couldn't get past the performance and technical issues. Wasn't until I purchased my DIR-615 that I realized that routers can be setup "once" and function properly.

Before N routers were available, I cycled through three WGR-614's. Two of them stopped working and I tossed the last one due to severe performance and connectivity issues.

That's good to know about Netgear products.  I had a DGND3300 DSL Modem/Router all in one and it seemed to function well.  But I sold it on eBay a few weeks ago.  Someone got a really good deal for $26 shipped!  I lost out, big time.  My fault, I thought it would fetch a higher price so I didn't set a limit thing (I forgot the what it's called).

I bought a previous Buffalo (WHR-G300N) for $16 plus $5 shipping.  It was a b*tch to setup.  I had to turn off my laptop and on again to get it to work to find the DHCP address on the WAN.  I've never had to do that with any of my other routers.  BUT, once it was up and running it was very solid performer.

But what's the DLink equivalent of the DGL-4500 now?  I still love DLink, FWIW.
