Its because it was one of the first routers to get 3rd party firmware support by way of Tomato. Heck, two firmware solutions are named after the router. LOL. It's a legend.  And since there have been SOOO much devolopment of that firmware, its very very stable. Many people who run small servers for 5-10 users don't need much in way of hardware, just a cheap, reliable and uflly configurable solution, and thats the WRT54G. I personally perfer the WRT54GS v2. Has double the flash and RAM then the more common WRT54GL(which are just WRT54G 4.0)

Question for anyone...what is the theoretical speed limit of these home routers? Any one know? I mean what is the Internet speed, no the physical LAN speed connection of GB, I mean what would be the Mb Up and Down be? I'm starting to see alot of higher ISP speeds being posted, like 25/25 and 60/60. Anyone have any info or thoughts? Home routers built to handle these higher speeds on the UP?

The highest I have seen is 150/50, that was with bonding 8streams down, and 4 streams up. If your wondering if your router can handle it, just connect your routers WAN to another routers LAN, then test transfer rates between the two LAN's. You would need to configire the DHCP range ofcourse, and adjust the gateways, but shouldn't be too hard.

Just wondering if most SOHO routers can handle those higher speeds. I presume so however is there a limit that anyone knows about? I know the 4500 and 825 handles my 50/2 fine. I see that uplink speeds for some people are becoming more faster. Also if this is the case, leaving uplink speed set to automatic on the router preferred?

Anyone notice the multiplayer and match making is soooo much better in GOW3? I haven't had one lag spike or issue. I would say its the dedicated server, but Horde doesn't use it. Either way, I'm happy :-)

3 things I hate about GOW3

1. People who don't use Mic or leave mic on with stupid conversation in the background. Its called mute.
2. People who die so just leave. Get on the Mic and spot for others.
3. People who don't bunker up. This isn't Halo, stop running around like a idiot. I can almost bet your pressing A to try to jump aren't you? LOL
