Protocl Forwarding for IPv6 Tunnel
« on: August 14, 2010, 10:23:22 AM »

I have a 655, A4, 1.34NA code.  I have a tunnel configured and working from Hurricane Elec to the outside.  A sniffer trace on the outside of the 655 shows v6 ping replies coming back.  However, I cannot get the 655 to forward protocol 41 to my PC.  Inside traces show nothing being forwarded.  I have configured Protocol as "Other" and entered 41 in the box below protocol.  Is this correct?  I tried configuring DMZ under Firewall as well and that did not work.....anyone got this working?

Thanks

Pat

The 655 does not need forwarding the IPv6 tunnel protocol, since the W7 & Vista setup require the client's local IPv6 address.  If more clients run a tunnel to an external endpoint, the first one to create the tunnel will receive the respons, the 655 passes through all data.

Is there any way to see if the 655 thinks there is another client?  I have been using a Win7 machine and a vista machine, trying both out...disabling v6 stack when switching around.  Did several reboots in between, so I would think any state table was cleared.  I will go back and boot the 655 and make sure v6 is disabled on PCs, then crank up one client.

I do know that that whatever the issue is, the echo reply from HE is returning to the outside interface of the 655....just not making it back inside.

OK, I got it resolved...had to go back and clear off my ipv6 interface and reapply HE commands.  The error I made was using the outside address when adding the tunnel, when I should have been using the 192.168 address.  There is a note on the HE page about this, guess I glazed over it the first time.

Thanks for your asssitance!
