I installed my DIR-655 about a month ago. Since then, I have been unable to authenticate on an external ftp host that I have used for years. When I remove the router or go outside of my network it works fine. I am able to make a connection to the host. It will request my credentials. After I supply username and password, I get a Response of 530 Login incorrect. I have modified every setting I could fine and reset the router to the factory defaults, but it doesn't help. Only when I remove the router can I log in.Any ideas? Thank you.---------------Router: DIR-655Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.00NA (up to date)
I am connecting to ftp.fatcow.comCable modem is an Arris TM502GI'm happy to provide more information, but I don't know what else is really relevant. I'm not real confident anyone is going to have an answer, but I'm fishing. I am able to connect to the ftp but can't authenticate and the problem exists only with the router in place. Just weird.
Hi basboycjj,Two things to check when you have the problem with the Router in line.1. - Make sure that the Router is showing your current IP Address from the Cable Modem. If not, Router may not be correctly sync'ed to the Cable Modem.2. - Make sure that the Router has the correct Date and Time.
I just checked. Both of these are correct. Thank you for the thought.
I have verified with them that they do use port 21 and that it is open
Also I can successfully authenticate to other ftp servers
