:;Edit:: Yup I would agree. If you can get online direct to modem, but can't bring up gateway of router, router sounds damaged. Kept the steps anyway incase someone else found them useful.
Their Cable. Not too bad of one either. I like what I see anyway. From what your saying, it sounds like something was damaged by the storm, the question is what. Try:
Proccess A
1. Disconnect power, or otherwise turn off all equipment.
2. Connect the ethernet(one you have confirmed working, or a new one) from the modem to the desktop.
3. Turn the power on to the modem. Wait until the lights look normal.
4. Turn on the computer.
If you can't get online then, repeat with the laptop instead of the desktop, using the same ethernet. If you still can't get online then, contact your ISP, because then its likly your modem. If you can, then try this:
Process B
1. Disconnect power, or otherwise turn off all equipment.
2. Connect the ethernet(one you have confirmed working, or a new one) from the LAN (either port 1,2,3,4 doesn't matter) on the DGL-4500 to the desktop or laptop confirmed online through Process A.
3. Turn on the power to the router. Wait 1-2min.
4. Turn on the PC/Laptop. Wait until fully loaded.
5. Try to log into into the by going to
http://192.168.0.1If you can't, then its your router. If you can, then try
Process C
1. Disconnect power, or otherwise turn off all equipment.
2. Connect the ethernet(one you have confirmed working, or a new one) from the modem to the grey "Internet" port on the DGL-4500.
3. Connect the ethernet(one you have confirmed working, or a new one) from the LAN (either port 1,2,3,4 doesn't matter) on the DGL-4500 to the desktop or laptop confirmed online through Process A.
4. Turn the power on to the modem. Wait until the lights look normal.
5. Turn on the power to the router. Wait 1-2min.
6. Turn on the PC/Laptop. Wait until fully loaded.
If you can get online, was likly a sync issue between the two devices. If you can't, and passed Process A and B, its probably the WAN port on the router.
