Hi,
I just got this router as a replacement for a Netgear 624. However, since my purchase I've experienced an occasional loss of connection between the router and the PC wired to it. This never happened with the Netgear router, and nothing else has changed in my setup, which leads me to suspect the DIR-655 is at fault.
Once or twice a day the connection will dissappear, and Windows 7 64bit will tell me there is no internet connection available. This happens during light use, like browsing forums, or even when the PC is idle. Clicking the "repair connection" option in Windows will fix it, as will restarting the router or the PC. Just waiting does not help. I can connect wirelessly to the router and access the internet from another PC while the wired connection is out.
The PC in question connects to the router through the ASUS motherboard's built in NIC, and power saving on the NIC is turned off. The router's firmware version is 1.31EU, which is the latest available for my country (Norway) on DLinks ftp site.
Does anyone have any idea for a simple fix before I return this router on warranty?
Thanks in advance
Dag
