I've been struggling to get my DIR-655 to maximize my cable's speed. With my computer plugged directly into the modem, I get 32Mbps down and 5.5Mbps up, which is slightly more than my subscribed rate of 30/5. The DIR-655 maxes out at 11-13Mbps down, 2.1Mbps up, less than half of what I should be getting.
I've tried nearly all possible configurations with this new DIR-655, and I can't get anything above 13Mbps down and 2.1Mbps up(measured from the same site- speedtest.net, from a location hosted by my ISP.) This is over a wired connection using brand new CAT6 cables. I am also using a Netgear ProSafe Gigabit switch in between, but removing it from the loop doesn't change things much.
Here's a rundown of my best config so far:
-All ALG services OFF
-QOS Engine OFF
-Traffic Shaping OFF
-WISH OFF
-SPI ON (this doesn't seem to affect things much either way)
-Manually Specified WAN port as 100MB
I've installed the newest (1.11) firmware.
These changes sped transfer rates up significantly (they were much slower before), but this thing has to be faster.. smallnetbuilder.com rates it as having one of the fastest WAN/LAN (and vice versa) routing speeds around.
Interestingly, the DIR-655's "Auto Uplink"/Shaping feature measures 5.4Mbps (as it should) but I can't get anything close to that..
Any ideas?
