I've been trying to fix this all day to no avail. I've tried all of the steps above, and quadruple checked everything. I even reset everything to factory and followed all the steps again to make sure. While the PS3 tells me "NAT: Type 2" in Black Ops and MW2 it says "Strict." Annoyingly, this just happened today--yesterday, I had always seen either "Open" or "Moderate." I didn't change any settings, it just switched to "Strict" for no apparent reason.
I've tried all of the steps above and in the related sticky, and I've tried sticking the PS3 in the DMZ. Still strict. The only way I can get it out of strict is to plug the PS3 directly into the modem--but obviously I can't do that.
My Setup:
TimeWarner/Road Runner DOCSIS 3.0
SMC modem in bridge mode (I used to use the combo router, and I had a "moderate" NAT at the time, but I called and had it switched to Bridge mode after I ordered the DIR-655)
Wired connection to PS3 (although I've tried both in this setup with the same results)
Maybe this is all the games' fault, but I guess I'll have to buy another router if I this can't be fixed (or doesn't magically change back).
EDIT: To add to the confusion, when an XBOX is connected with the same settings, it says the NAT Type is "OPEN."
(Also, I checked - I'm getting a public IP address.)
