Let me guess...
You're going to say that in the history of our modern age, there's never been a better driver written.

haha.. I wish  :D  So I tested out the drivers and used the DPC checker and noticed some improvement. The spikes in DPC aren't as severe and the audio is clean.. however video is still a bit choppy. I sent in my feedback and hopefully we can work out the kinks.

Just noticed u posted build 2 but your asking for build 5 feedback. Typo?

Will do, testing it now.. Nice to see downloading finished just over 1MB/s. That's more like it. ;)

Downloaded and installed "dwa552_drivers_150b02_beta.zip" and the DPC latency issue is still there.

I would like to note that my DWA-556 has the same behavior. Would this driver work with that card as well? The audio pops are kind of random, but every 60 seconds or so I get a DPC spike. If I disable the device in the device manager things are greatly improved. The problem is, I like my wireless connection ;).

Intelman - are you using Vista?
Just curious.

Hi,

Being the original poster of this thread I am glad D-Link could finally reproduce and acknowledge the problem.

I am very interested to test your new driver ! But your website still only shows the old "4.10" one...

Where can I get the newer ones ?

I just bought a 18" long drill bit in preparation to setup my network "the good old wired way"... Maybe I can return it if this works correctly ?

Thanks,

Michel

Thanks for the link !

This version, although far from perfect, seems better ! The interuptions have been reduced just enough so it does not disrupt MP3 playing in Media Player. Will have to test with my recording software ( Reaper ) but I find the level of interuption quite high and unsafe for audio recording.

Hopefully, this version being only Beta, the final version will be even better. The developpers are on the right track this time. Aim for <1000µs !

Here are my results both taken just before and after the install of the new driver:

Before:

After:

Thanks !

Hi All,

Everyone is posting pictures of the DPLLatency Checker V1.1.0 but hardly anyone mentions their operating system information.

But here is an Idea. Do a Full Screen Prt Scrn Snapshot. Include the DPL Latency Checker at the bottom above the TaskBar and open Task Manager. Click on Processes. Then double-click on CPU on the column header.

While the drivers have improved, there are also other programs running the background that are causing lagging also. Programs high in memory usage.

Hi,

It is well documented that if you disable the wireless driver ( you know how to do this right ? ) the red bars in DPL disappear instantly...

BTW, I run WinXP SP3...

Hi michel,

If you disable the wireless driver, all communications stop, inbound and outbound communications to other programs as well. Cisco's Speed Meter Pro is causing spikes, as well as the installation of Updates to your Anti-Virus programs.

BTW, I never heard of WinXP SP3. I run Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3.
