Not able tp FF/RW or Pause in Medialounge Mode
« on: December 14, 2008, 07:20:42 AM »

I am playing the .avi movie files, everything works perfectly in the media lounge mode when I play from my NAS but I am not able to fwd, rwd or pause any of the movies I play. Whenever I try it, it says "seek function not supported in your file...", I am able to do all of that if I play it in my divx DVD through USB or DVD

What might be going wrong?

What NAS device are you using?

I am using Linkysys NAS200 and I have a 1.5 TB SATA HDD in the enclosure.

Any help in this matter would be appreciated.

I am sorry I do not have one of these units to try and help you out. It may be a limitation on the UPnP AV media server on the NAS. Have you tried it with any similar device as out DSM-750?

I dont think it is about the NAS, because when I put the same files on USB and try the direct USB through the DSM-750, it still does the same thing.

Have you tried using Windows media player 11 as you media server and tried the FF/RW function?

No, I have not, I do not want to use my PC to watch movies, thats the main purpose why I bought this unit.

Using Media Player 11 is not to watch movies on the PC but to serve (A Media Server) the DSM-750 so that you can watch TV on your Television set.

Check the below link and read how to set up WMP 11 as a media server;

Yes.  But you are trying to troubleshoot the problem.  If it works with WMP 11 then it is not the DSM-750 that has the problem but the NAS.

I recommend trying WMP 11 and see what is the problem and then decided what to do.

I already tried to make sure that it is not the NAS by taking the same movie and put it on direct USB, plugged that into the DSM and I have the same problem.

I could not get a single AVI movie to fast forward/rewind in MediaLounge mode either. If it ever worked by design, it must have been on a particular AVI encoded with particular software in the lab.

Same issue here - It is not a limitation of your NAS, because as you state it happens with USB as well.  I am the same, I use my media player as a stand-alone and don;t want it using my PC.

It's unfortunate that you cant stop, pause, forward, rewind movies...  This would be great to have and I would think common sense functionality to have...

the lack of fwdf & rwd is a huge disappointment and as mentioned you'd think this would be common sense functionality. I was hoping that the new firmware upgrade would fix this issue but it has not.

very sad  ???
