The smb.conf he's talking about is the one on the DNS-323, that we have no way of accessing, short of fun_plug or whatever it takes to telnet into this thing and access the file structure. Or D-Link could upgrade the version of Samba server it uses...
So, read this page here, specifically the part about "How to Make the DNS-323 Work with UNC Paths." That'll take care of our problem, but I don't really feel like experimenting with an, otherwise, decently-working NAS.
