Random disconnects lasting 10-20 seconds

Well the topic says it all. So far this router has been nothing but trouble for me. I was on a DLink before that worked perfectly before my dad decided to make an upgrade. Ever since we got it I get randomly disconnected from Xbox Live and any game until I realized while playing on the computer it is randomly disconnecting all of the internet. Now before on the past router disabling UPnP solved all of the problems, and it's not so with this one. I've fiddled with all of the port fowarding, DMZ and everything you can name and nothing has stopped this yet.

My dilemma is I am absolutely stuck with this router other wise I would be disposing of this pain in the neck swiftly. So not only and I being disconnected from the internet but it almost seems as if this router may be disconnecting my actual modem seeing as it has been off and on since this routers been installed, any help would be great cause I am at the end of the line here and have just about had it.

Have you looked around in the forum posts (search for Xbox) for possible solutions?

Also, a post of the router log for the time of disconnect would be helpful.

Please give us more detail what you have done to try and fix this issue.
- What firmware are you running?
- Who is your ISP?
- is your connection cable or DSL?
- What settings do you have checked in the Advanced firewall settings, networking settings etc...
- what does you logs say?

- what does you logs say?Also I have run logs through Ethereal a program that reads internet activity and the only thing I was getting off of that was that the router was spamming my dads computer asking for a workgroup name, I resolved that problem and now it has gotten worse. It's disconnecting more frequently every 10-15 minutes and staying off for a few minutes.

The logs that would be helpful are the router generated logs.  When you login to the router the first screen should have a link to the "logs" on the left hand side.  The most important log info would be around the time of a disconnect.

Below is a log where I was disconnected at 13:25:20 and regained connection at 13:29:30. Almost a 5 minute disconnection.

Moments later I was disconnected again this time only for a few seconds.

Device on 192.168.0.196 is requesting the disconnect. It's not the router initiating. Any guess on what you have connected on that IP? If it is a wireless device try setting the router to enable wireless partition (wirless devices cannot communicatie with eachother).

It was a wireless computer downstairs, I checked the WLAN Partition and saved the settings. We need to give it some time but I will be monitoring what's going on.

Like I sais, the wireles device is requesting the disconnect. Have a look at the driver on that device, because the router is just responding to a request, not initiating it.

Switch to firmware 1.11 and see if the problem goes away...
