Sorry, wasn't able to respond immediately. Re your question EddieZ, my DSL modem has a DHCP configuration. It's actually an ADSL modem so it's a PPPoE connection.
I noticed several new threads on disconnections were also raised. I can relate with some of the posters, particularly those whose units were working great until recently when the disconnections started happening. Mine worked very well initially and performed many of the things I wanted for my network - file sharing, wireless streaming from NAS to PS3, etc (really happy with it actually). So it's disheartening to see that even without doing anything (or changing any of the settings) these disconnection began appearing. I think that's one of the reasons why some posters are frustrated: since they are not experts, most of their free time (especially those who work) are now spent trying to fix these problems. What could be causing these disconnections? Is it a common problem for all? And interestingly, why have they started appearing only now?
After trying many of the suggestions in other threads (and still getting the wireless and wired disconnection errors), I finally decided to do a hard reset today. Except for the SSID, I did not do any changes, so there's no security setting, etc. Hooked up my router to my modem then to my computer (wired connection). Guess what, the disconnections still appeared and more frequently this time.
D-Link, we really need your help on this. We're running out of options (and patience)...
