Hi,
I hope someone can help me. First off I'll say that I know only the basics as far as networking goes.
I've had the DIR-655 for about a year now, and it's worked great for me until yesterday. I got home from work and the internet wasn't working; my modem's lights were all normal, as were the router's. I rebooted both of them and it worked again. Half an hour later though, it stopped working. I called my ISP and they said that if the modem's lights are all on, it's likely a problem with the router.
So, I called DLINK's support dept, and they had me change my SSID, as well as the wireless channel to 11 and the beacon period to 80, RTS Threshold to 2300. It worked again for a little while, but disconnected an hour later.
Each time it stops working, I can get it going again with rebooting, but it's very annoying to do that every hour or so. Not to mention it's frustrating when it disconnects while playing online on the xbox360.
Funny thing is, just rebooting the router doesn't get the connection going again, but rebooting the modem alone will. Does that mean the problem might actually be with the modem?
If it helps, I have 2 computers wired to the router, and a couple of gaming consoles connected wirelessly. The router is hardware version 2 and I have the latest firmware.
