The security issue you are referencing speaks specifically to  DNS-325, firmware version 1.01.1217.2010. The current DNS-325 firmware version is v1.03.
I found the topic so intriguing as to give it a try. I must report, that the cgi scripts mentioned on that page are still executed without any authentication. Firmware 1.03.0613.2012 (received via executing http://homenas.local/cgi-bin/system_mgr.cgi?cmd=get_firm_v_xml)

i've checked on my DNS-325 with firmware v1.03 (1.03.0613.2012)
Restart the device: http://<device IP address>/cgi-bin/system_mgr.cgi?cmd=cgi_restart
Shutdown the device: http://<device IP address>/cgi-bin/system_mgr.cgi?cmd=cgi_shutdown
Retrieve the device firmware version: http://<device IP address>/cgi-bin/system_mgr.cgi?cmd=get_firm_v_xml
At least these cgi scripts are executed without any authentication!
I think, that "reset the firmware to default settings" link (http://<device IP address>/cgi-bin/wizard_mgr.cgi?cmd=cgi_wizard) is also working.

My initial plan was to make the whole /var/www/cgi-bin folder inaccessible (the GUI pages seem to be located in /var/www/web anyway), but unfortunately the login screen makes use of login_mgr.cgi in that folder, so that one must remain.
I am looking now if it will be safe to remove all other links from the folder so as to not serve them over HTTP.

Thanks for your updates and testing...
I've already informed D-Link, although I presume this is something they are already aware of given how long ago this issue was initially discovered/reported...  :-\

I found the topic so intriguing as to give it a try. I must report, that the cgi scripts mentioned on that page are still executed without any authentication. Firmware 1.03.0613.2012 (received via executing http://homenas.local/cgi-bin/system_mgr.cgi?cmd=get_firm_v_xml)

i've checked on my DNS-325 with firmware v1.03 (1.03.0613.2012)
Restart the device: http://<device IP address>/cgi-bin/system_mgr.cgi?cmd=cgi_restart
Shutdown the device: http://<device IP address>/cgi-bin/system_mgr.cgi?cmd=cgi_shutdown
Retrieve the device firmware version: http://<device IP address>/cgi-bin/system_mgr.cgi?cmd=get_firm_v_xml
At least these cgi scripts are executed without any authentication!
I think, that "reset the firmware to default settings" link (http://<device IP address>/cgi-bin/wizard_mgr.cgi?cmd=cgi_wizard) is also working.

another reference: http://exploitsdownload.com/exploit/hardware/sharecenter-d-link-dns-320-remote-rebootshutdownreset-dos

Thanks for the heads up.

I tried several units, all displayed the logon screen correctly and I was able to enter my password. After that, different things happened on different units. Sometimes I was redirected to an error (500) screen, other times the home screen was present but none of the buttons were active.

Selecting compatibility mode always fixed the problem, sometimes via another error screen. Once fixed, everything seems to work (but I haven't tried everything).

IE10 seems to have some glitches, maybe this is one of them.
