I would like to see different P2P scheduling options for downloads and uploads.

I have unlimited Download between 2am-8am so I would like my downloads to be schedule to run between that time, but I want my uploads to be going all day... If anyone has a current solution to this that would be awesome.

Added to wishlist. . .  ;)

Grrr....

I was trying to be a good neighbor and support LibriVox by hosting a bunch of their torrents. (Which is how I get them to listen to.) and I found that the p2p client has a limit of 20 torrents total. :(

So. My request:
App - P2P - Enhancement: Permit more than 20 (or unlimited) hosted torrents.

I think I'd add to the list of requests to D-Link "Development" would be to put the GPL development environment that they already provide via downloads as a bittorrent download. One of them is so large that the websites aren't providing it properly.

Hi,
my request is to install a svn server. The hardware seems to be enough. I saw the same request in the dns 323 wishlist, there are many users who may use. ::)

I've been playing with my system in an effort to understand the setup better and I've replaced the drives a couple of times and reset the box a few also.

I strongly suggest that the engineering team make a better effort of separating (and grouping) the information that should disappear when the drives are wiped and the minimum needed to remain in the core memory in the box itself.

Users, Groups, Shares and user/group/share specific information should disappear when the drive is wiped/removed.

The absolute minimum that should/could remain (IMNSHO) would be the network configuration only.
Everything else can be restored from a backup or once the drives are wipe/removed should have no signs of ever having been there.

And in that vein, if I "Reset" the box with the button, I expect it to be *REALLY* reset, nothing should exist on the box that wouldn't be there if someone pulled the unit out of the retail box.

Just thought I'd share.

The factory reset procedure should already reset all user configurations. It's impossible for the box to truly purged since the latest installed firmware will remain. The DNS-325 does not contain ROM memory with the factory installed FW for restoration.
Just thought I'd share.

Re: DNS-325 - Firmware Wishlist
« Reply #342 on: May 01, 2014, 05:37:11 AM »

Added to the firmware wishlist...  ;)
Great, thanks. Wasn't sure if it qualified for inclusion or not.

The factory reset procedure should already reset all user configurations.
The word "Should" is a dangerous word. ;)
http://uplink.to/le6

I had thought so but such is not the case. Or, as always possible, I did it wrong. I'm going to be doing it again to make sure. Sadly it's many hours between attempts. (For some reason the damn mortgage company is in cahoots with my wife and they want me to actually go to work every day.)

I took the drives out and wiped them using my server at work. Wrote zeros across the entire 500G of each one. We're talking no signs of life at all on them when they're finished.

I then, without the drives installed, powered up the unit and did the reset thing. Then powered it down and inserted my cleaned drives. There was still information in the system that shouldn't have been there.

I'll post a followup when I've rewiped the drives and done it again.

It's impossible for the box to truly purged since the latest installed firmware will remain.
Yes, that's right. Sorry, I probably gave the wrong impression to those who were reading.

When "Purged", I expect the system to little more than just the firmware on it and the date it was loaded. There has to be some residue expected (number of hours run, last run, etc.) but that's all.

As an aside, if anyone can reach the powers that be, the firmware downloads are sorta screwed up on the main site. The link http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DNS-325 lets you select which firmware to download and it uses names like "DNS-325_FIRMWARE_1.01.ZIP" but they're not in zip format, they're raw lif (binary) files. It is smart to provide them in zip format but someone's got to fix the files on the website to correct them.

Also, one of the firmware files is damaged somehow, I've tried a hundred different ways to test it and the 1.01 file won't work. I attempted to return my system to original status so that I could experiment with it and do the upgrades slowly instead of jumping to where I was (at 1.04) but ran into those problems.

Like I said, I probably shouldn't have put this here but in a related topic, it's more informational and feedback as opposed to actual wishlist entries.

Thanks for everyone's time.

I split this off into a new thread: DNS-325 - Issue w/ FW Posted on support.dlink.com & FTP2

I say "should" because I don't have access to a DNS-325 to validate the results (for better or for worse).  :-\
We look forward to your follow-up report.  ;)
