DIR-655 Wireless Status Not Populating
« on: November 19, 2011, 10:45:34 PM »

I just hooked up my DIR-655 yesterday and it seems to be working very well. The only problem I've got is that the Wireless Status page is empty. It filled in with data one time only, and it showed connections, protocols, speeds, etc. that seemed correct.

What is going on and what can I do to fix it?

This is version B1 hardware and version 2.00NA firmware. I purchased it new from Amazon this week. All connections are wireless and my network is mixed g and n.

Thanks

I have noticed the same behavior. I have 5 wireless devices connected but none show up on the Status > Wireless page.

My HW: Hardware Version: B1   Firmware Version: 2.03NA

First unplug the power from the router and see if you can still connect to your wireless. We are trying to make sure its YOUR router your connecting to wirelessly. If so, I would call Dlink and see if they have any thoughts. Might be a bug or a bad router.

It's definitely my router.

From the number of people I see talking about this specific problem here and on Amazon reviews, I'm thinking this is a firmware problem. HH has FW 2.03 and I have 2.00 but every firmware check says I have the latest version.

I've heard there is firmware available from third party vendors. Do you know anything about that or if it's likely to fix a problem like this?

If you have the latest firmware and still you're not able the wireless clients, you can try to use another browser...or may be try another computer

I did discover that using IE in Compatibility mode lets the wireless status list populate SOMETIMES.

Access speeds to the 192.168.0.1 web page seem to be getting progressively slower.

Have you tried to reset the browser of your IE or maybe clear the cache and cookies on your browser??

Yep, nothing changed. I emailed Tech Support separately and I have instructions for upgrading to FW 2.03NA, I just haven't done them yet. I hope to do it tonight.

I have both Revision A and B Dir-655 routers.
Revision A populates the Wireless device list. Revision B does not.
I have tried different firmware updates for Revision B (currently using 2.03NA).

I have noticed that if the router is reset.. you will get one and only one shot at getting the Wireless Device list.  If you change to look at a different page (tab) after looking at the wireless status, and then go back, you will not get a listing.

It appears the issue is a scripting (code) issue with "st_wireless.asp".
The problem is not browser dependent as I tested with IE, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.

I'll have a look at this when I get home as I have a RevB 655 however I'm using v2.00 right now.

Sorry, but I sent the router back after my last posting.

I was working on another problem with a wireless device and I changed the password on the D-Link. Once I did that, I lost control of the router and could never regain it. Eventually, I couldn't even log into it and I did try resets.

I returned it to Amazon and bought an Asus N56U instead. That had a hardware failure after 7 hours and went back too.

Now I have a Netgear N6000 from a local Radio Shack. So far so good, but I'd have rather kept the D-Link.

Just so you know, if you seem to loose control of the PW or the router, you are aware that using the back reset button resets the router and PW back to defaults right? Might remember that in the future.

Hope the new router works well.

Thanks, but I tried that several times and every attempt seemed to make things slightly worse. That was why I finally decided to send it back. I figured a new product that was failing like that was a bad deal.

Thanks for your help.

I have the same issue. Brand new 655 latest firmware and hardware, wireless list is empty and also the connected device list only shows about 3 devices, sometimes with an ip of 0.0.0.0.

I set it all up wireless n only with 6 wireless and 3 wired devices and it all worked fine until I discovered my Dell 1355 laser printer was g only, so had to set it to g/n. That's when the wireless device list stopped populating. I also found that if I turned off all devices except iphones and ipads the list would populate. Go figure.

I'm not going to return it because it works great - I just made sure that I hard coded the IP addresses for all my devices, but it is annoying all the same so if anyone finds a resolution, please post!

Happy New Year!

Some things to try:
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find these under Status/Device Info/Wan section.
Turn off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

Turn off Short GI and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
