Can't acces my NAS out of my LAN
« on: July 14, 2012, 07:57:54 PM »

Good night!

I bought a DNS-320, made the setting, set a static IP to it (outside the DHCP range of the router), I setup port forwarding on the router (8108, because my ISP blocks port 80), set up my account DDNS but still can not access my NAS xxx.dyndns.com the host outside the local network ... Where am I wrong? Missing a step?

Example of my setup:

IP = 192.168.0.150 NAS
Main router (Tenda W311R +) = 192.168.0.10
Router repeater (Tenda W268R) = 192.168.0.20
Forwarding ports (main router) = 8108
DDNS configured the router and not on the NAS
DMZ enabled on the router to the local IP of the NAS

Thank you!

(Forgive me for failing English)

You configure DDNS on the NAS, and the need for a router

nomadfromx, thanks for the reply. Here we go:

I setup the DDNS account also in the NAS? I keep the two (NAS and router) active settings??

I've done this setting and still have not had success ... :(

On my dlink router DMZ has the meaning: forward all port 1:1

so i disable this and forward only some ports.
changing the ports while forwarding, dlink call this "virtual server"

for http:
you need a rule forward port8108 -> port80. udp and tcp

from outside of youre lan you have to enter now:
http://xxx.dyndns.com:8108

Using non-standard port for remote web access will not work on firmware 2.02 but secure HTTP (port 443) work fine.

telemaxx, thanks for the reply ...

On the DMZ, I know, was a desperate attempt .....
I setup the DMZ is disabled and still unable to access ...

Albert, thank you!

I did the test using port 443 and also have not had much success ...

This is my setup redirection:

If I try to access the NAS by the local IP + redirected port (192.168.0.150:443) this error occurs: Error 324 (net :: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE)

@anderson_br, your pic link is not working.

To access via secure HTTP just type: https://ddns-name will do. Of course you still need to do port-forwarding on your router.

Please ditch imageshack, it still show "Domain Unregistered".

Also re-check your port-forwarding settings.

Here another link http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/690/capturarxms.png

This is the router configuration:

Virtual server -> Port range forwarding

1.        443         443             192.168.0.150      TCP       Yes

Before I comment further, is port-forwarding function on the Tenda router work for other application?

Your setup remind me of Linksys stock firmware, it doesn't have port-forwarding feature that allow redirecting of Source-Port to Target-Port. Source-port refer to port-no from the WAN (Internet) side going to the Target-port on the LAN side.

As I understand my router should have option to choose port internal / external, right?

My router does not seem to have this function, follow the description of the port forwarding section:

Port Range Forwarding

The Router Can Be configured as a virtual server on behalf of local services behind the LAN port. The given remote requests will be re-directed to the local servers via the virtual server. This section deals with the port range forwarding mainly. The Port Range Forwarding Allows you to set up kinds of public services such as web servers, ftp, e-mail and Other Specialized Internet applications on your network.

To be frank, I not entirely sure what Port-Range Forwarding does since it doesn't redirect incoming port to the correct outgoing port for a specific device.

Correct me if I'm wrong but seem like Port-Range Forwarding is only good for devices within the LAN.

Best to check with the router manufacturer if they have a workaround for this. FYI, Linksys did release firmware upgrade to fix this.

Don't thank me yet as I could be wrong. According to PortForward.com, it seem like what you have done initially is correct, refer here.

I am assuming you're using a separate Internet connection to test the remote access. Also do verify with www.canyouseeme.org site to confirm if port 443 is indeed open.
