I am new to the area of a NAS and was told that imagine so briefly. Not so.
Because I want to put my pictures and files so I came out through the grapevine in a NAS.
Now I have 4 Hard discs in it every 1 TB and NAS are in raid 5.
which I understand that if one hard drive fails, I still have all the files at my disposal.
And if so 1 HD is defective I just can replace it with a new one just like that.
Is this story or do you recommend me another setting?

In theory you are correct. RAID-5 provides redundancy, so if one HDD fails, you should be able to swap out the defective/failing HDD with a replacement. However, it should be noted that there are other forms of failure that RAID-5 is unable to recover from. RAID-5 provides redundancy, but is not a substitute for a backup. Please see the following two posts:

If the above posts do not properly translate to Dutch, I suggest you research the difference between backup and redundancy published in your native language to get a better understanding.

If you have a separate backup of your data, then RAID-5 is an exceptional solution to maximize data up-time and availability of your primary storage device. I'm not trying to sound pessimistic or deter you from using RAID-5, as the likelihood of something going catastrophically wrong with a RAID-5 array is not very high, but it's always best to maintain a separate physical backup of your data (i.e. don't put all your eggs in one basket).

Okay, the story of Raid 0 and Raid 5 I understand now.
I will make a separate HD via USB with the total recovery program even let backup. Pro per month
which is quite a good alternative?

Now I would like to put my pictures.
it wants these only visible to some users in the home and outside of my house also for some via explorer so.
what can I best create Users Single, Multiple Users, The Same User.?
  You can also create folders and then authorize that user whether or not to see?
When I look at my computer with explorer I see the My Pictures folder not stand.
I see this alone when I login via Internet Explorer.
I put the pictures than in the Photos folder or do I create a new folder in explorer.

How you create the folder shouldn't matter (through Windows Explorer or the DNS-345).

Let's assume you have three directories/folders with photos in your DNS-345 and you want to give specific users access to specific folders:

  • Family_Photo_Folder_1
  • Family_Photo_Folder_2
  • Personal_Photo_Folder_3

Option 1
Create users and individually provide access permissions to the folders they need to see.

Option 2
Alternatively, if you have many users that will need the same access, you can use the concept of Security Groups.

First create the necessary groups:

  • Family_Group
  • Personal_Group

Next, associate the Groups to the required folders/directories:

  • Family_Group -> Read Access to Family_Photo_Folder_1
  • Family_Group -> Read Access to Family_Photo_Folder_2
  • Personal_Group -> Read/Write Access to Personal_Photo_Folder_3

Next, create user accounts:

  • User_1
  • User_2
  • User_3
  • User_4
  • User_5

Finally, add users to the proper Groups:

  • User_1 -> Family_Group
  • User_2 -> Family_Group
  • User_3 -> Family_Group
  • User_4 -> Family_Group
  • User_4 -> Personal_Group
  • User_5 -> Personal_Group

Result:

  • User_1, User_2, and User_3 will have access to Family_Photo_Folder_1 and Family_Photo_Folder_2
  • User_5 will have access to Personal_Photo_Folder_3
  • User_4 will have access to Family_Photo_Folder_1, Family_Photo_Folder_2, and Personal_Photo_Folder_3

The benefit of this approach is if you create a new folder with photos, you can simply add the new folder to the Family_Group one time and all users in the group will automatically have access. This avoids the need to adjust every user account. Similarly, if you want to add a new user, rather than configuring all the user settings, you can simply add the new user to an existing group.

I have to do that in this volgoorde?

I have actually have around 50 different folders with photos.
and I thought that I copy to the DNS-345, and then I create users and determine who has what access rights.
I have a small home network.
when I look at my wife's PC may also see the DNS-345 while she is not logged.
the intention is that I can see the pictures, copy, edit, and DELETE. with admin user
my wife should see them enkelt, copy and they may not be able to edit and DELETE.
especially the removal is very important because she has done so. several times accidentally
and my wife would have to get where they can put pictures. assigned to a separate folder
I make sure because then for these images in the correct folder come to be.

If you follow the first option that I mentioned, then you don't have to deal with groups.  Just configure your wife's account with READ ONLY access to specific folders in the DNS-345, while you retain READ/WRITE access to the same folders.

Management - Creating Single users

The Users / Groups menu is used to create and manage users and groups.
Up to 512 users and 64 groups can be created.
By default, all users have read and write access to all folders.
However, access rules can be created and edited in the Network Shares menu.

    1.Click management, account management.
Under Users / Groups, click Create User Settings.

   2. The User Setup Wizard appears.
Click Next to continue.

   3. In step 1, select 'Create a Single User "
click Next.

   4. In step 2, enter the username (vrouw01) and password (wachtwoord01) for the new user.
Click Next to continue.

   5. In step 3, add the user to a group by the introduction of the group information. (if no group exists click next)
Click Next to continue.

   6. In step 4, select the network share settings. Select read only, read / write, or deny access.
Click Next to continue.

   7. Assign Privileges / Access methods for the user (s).
Check the options you need.
Click Next to continue.

   8. WebDAV is one of the options.
Click Next to continue.

   9. In step 5, enter the amount of disk space you want to assign the user at any volume. To unlimited disk space to accommodate the user. Enter zero
Click Next to continue.

   10. The last step is a summary of all the configurations you made.
Click Finish to accept the changes
Click Exit to cancel the changes.

What is WebDAV for something?
what this means

What is WebDAV for something?
what this means

WebDAV is a file distribution protocol, which is somewhat similar to FTP in concept, but operates as an extension to the HTTP protocol. The protocol is designed to facilitate collaborative file sharing/editing among users. Odds are that if you're not familiar with WebDAV, then you don't need to enable this functionality.

photos I uploaded (with name xxx.jpg) and have subsequently want to download it says save my PC as: TN_xxxjpg.jpg. (xxx is the picture name)
I download the image from a different than my PC says:
_SPAN_xxx.jpg_SPAN.
I would therefore have the pictures of name should change.
Am I doing something wrong which he or (TN_ .jpg) or (_SPAN SPAN_) make of this or?

I'm not sure about why the names are changing. Are you downloading these images through the DNS-345 browser interface? If so, try a different browser to see if you get the same results.  :-\

The first download I had done with Microsoft Internet Explorer.
I have done this with Google Chrome today.
this gives the same result (T N. jpg) or (_SPAN SPAN_).
Is there anything else I might be doing wrong?

This sounds like the result of shifting files (pictures) from a specialist image handling program.

What do you get if you use windows explorer to upload and download individual jpeg files?

Try uploading xxx.jpg from the folder on your PC to the folder on the DNS-345 using windows explorer.  If the file name stays the same then try downloading the file, again using windows explorer, to some other folder (test) on your PC.  If the file name still remains the same, as it should, we need to look at what software you are using to store and retrieve your pictures.
